What is HDMI?

HDMI (High Definition Multimedia Interface) is a specification that combines video and audio into a single digital interface for use with digital versatile disc (DVD) players, digital television (DTV) players, set-top boxes, and other audiovisual devices.

Using HDMI, one can transfer audio and video data from an HDMI compliant source device to a compatible digital television, computer monitor, video projector, or digital audio device. HDMI HDMI is backward compatible with single link Digital Visual Interface Digital, or DVI-D, and DVI-I.
